About Waterpik
Waterpik traces back to 1962, when Fort Collins, Colorado dentist Dr. Gerald Moyer and engineer John Mattingly built the first oral irrigator, a device that used a pulsating stream of water to clean between teeth. The company introduced its first countertop water flosser in 1967 and has stayed headquartered in Fort Collins ever since, through several ownership changes that culminated in a 2017 acquisition by Church & Dwight, which still owns the brand today. Waterpik was also the first water flosser brand to earn the American Dental Association Seal of Acceptance, and the company says it remains the top water flosser brand recommended by dental professionals.
The catalog has grown well past the original countertop flosser into cordless and handheld water flossers, standalone sonic toothbrushes, and combo devices that put both functions in one handle. In our testing, the Sonic-Fusion Flossing Electric Toothbrush is the product that earned this brand its recognition: a sonic brush and a water flosser built into a single handle, switchable between brushing, flossing, or both in one pass. It is the only product in our electric-toothbrush-for-braces roundup built specifically to solve the part of an orthodontic routine people skip most, getting water under an archwire, without adding a second device to the counter.

Why we recognized Waterpik
The DIYRated Top Brand recognition isn't paid for and can't be applied for. We award it to the brands whose products consistently stand out in our hands-on category reviews. Waterpik earned it on the strength of the products below, evaluated the same way every product on this site is: bought, put to work on real jobs, and judged on merit.

Waterpik Sonic-Fusion Flossing Electric Toothbrush
This handle runs a sonic brush and a water flosser from the same reservoir base, switchable between brush only, floss only, or both at once, which collapses a braces routine into a single device instead of two chargers fighting over one outlet. Water flossing is the step most people in treatment skip, and building it into the brush handle removes the main excuse. In our review it carries one of the largest review bases in that roundup, with a 4.5-star average across roughly 19,500 ratings.
