About Ironclad
Ironclad was founded in 1997 by Ed Jaeger after he noticed construction workers on a build site going bare-handed because the gloves available to them were too bulky to work in. The company set out to build task-specific work gloves that gave up neither protection nor dexterity, and is widely credited with creating the performance work glove category when it opened for business in 1998. Ironclad has since been granted 30 patents globally and holds more than 70 trademarks, and the brand was acquired by Brighton-Best International in 2017.
The Ironclad lineup spans general-purpose utility gloves, premium leather gloves for ranch and heavy-duty work, impact- and cut-resistant designs, heat- and flame-resistant gloves, and disposable nitrile options, each built around a specific trade or task rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. In our own hands-on work glove testing, two Ironclad models stood out enough to earn a place on our list: the General Utility Work Gloves and the Ranchworx RWG2 leather glove, both averaging 4.6 stars across a combined 33,000-plus verified buyer reviews.
