About Earthwise
Earthwise is the corded and battery-powered equipment line of the American Lawn Mower Company, a family-owned business founded in 1895 by Robert Butler Kersey and still run today by his great-grandson, Michael Kersey, as president. The company began manufacturing lawn mowers in Muncie, Indiana in 1902, and in 1936 it acquired the Great States Corporation of Shelbyville, Indiana, a fellow reel-mower maker that shares the corporate roof with Earthwise to this day. Earthwise extended that company's long-standing "clean air choice" positioning, built on decades of manual reel mowers, into powered snow throwers, electric mowers, trimmers, and pressure washers.
The lineup runs on a shared 20V, 40V, and 58V lithium battery platform the company began rolling out in 2011, alongside corded electric tools like the SN70016 snow shovel we feature below. Earthwise products carry American Lawn Mower Company's limited warranty and are sold through garden centers, hardware stores, and independent retailers nationwide, not exclusively online, alongside sister brands Great States, Radius Garden, and Root Assassin. The company is headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Why we recognized Earthwise
The DIYRated Top Brand recognition isn't paid for and can't be applied for. We award it to the brands whose products consistently stand out in our hands-on category reviews. Earthwise earned it on the strength of the products below, evaluated the same way every product on this site is: bought, put to work on real jobs, and judged on merit.
Earthwise products we rated highly
Earthwise SN70016 12-Amp Corded Electric Snow Shovel
At just 14 pounds, the SN70016 is a powered snow shovel rather than a full snow blower, and it earns its place in our roundup for exactly that job: clearing walkways, decks, and front steps without the weight or bulk of a driveway machine. The 12-amp corded motor and dual-curved auger handle up to 6 inches of snow, and more than 2,700 verified reviews back up its reliability for light-duty clearing. We recommend it often as a second tool for elderly homeowners, anyone with back issues, or as a companion to a full-size blower for the spots it can't reach.
