About Giraffe Tools
Giraffe Tools is a New Jersey and Los Angeles-based outdoor equipment brand best known for retractable garden hose reels, alongside garage vacuums, air hose reels, pressure washers, and the garden hoses themselves. The company traces back to founder Oracle Shao, whose family's interest in home gardening led him to open his first factory in 2004; the Giraffe Tools brand itself was formally established in 2017. Products are sold direct through the brand's own site and through major retailers including Amazon, Lowe's, Walmart, and Costco, with a footprint across the US, Canada, the UK, and Australia.
The brand's retractable wall, ground, and cart-mounted hose reels are its signature line, and reviewers who have tested them describe a smooth, self-rewinding mechanism and a stainless-steel-and-ABS build that resists rust and UV fading. That same durability focus carries over into the standalone hose line: the Giraffe Tools Garden Hose we tested pairs a lightweight hybrid-polymer body with nickel-plated brass fittings built to resist the corrosion that degrades cheaper hose connections over time.

Why we recognized Giraffe Tools
The DIYRated Top Brand recognition isn't paid for and can't be applied for. We award it to the brands whose products consistently stand out in our hands-on category reviews. Giraffe Tools earned it on the strength of the products below, evaluated the same way every product on this site is: bought, put to work on real jobs, and judged on merit.
Giraffe Tools products we rated highly
Giraffe Tools Garden Hose 5/8" Heavy Duty 100ft
In our testing, this 100-foot hose stayed just over 7 lbs, exceptionally light for that length and far easier to drag across a yard than a comparable rubber hose. Swivel handles on both ends let it connect and reposition without twisting into knots, and the nickel-plated brass fittings resist the corrosion that degrades cheaper hose connections over time, a build The Spruce highlighted in a year of hands-on testing.

- Dual swivel handles let the hose connect and reposition at both the spigot and nozzle ends without twisting into knots.
