About Honda

Honda has manufactured small engines for power equipment since 1953, and its Power Equipment division, headquartered in Alpharetta, Georgia, has sold Honda generators in the United States since 1973. The division's products, including generators, lawn mowers, pumps, snow blowers, tillers, and trimmers, are assembled across 11 Honda manufacturing facilities worldwide, among them Honda Power Equipment Mfg., LLC in Swepsonville, North Carolina, the plant that has built Honda generators and snow blowers for the U.S. market for decades. Honda R&D Americas, also based in North Carolina, conducts the product engineering and testing behind the current lineup of more than 70 models across six product families. By 2015, Honda counted over 40 million satisfied Power Equipment customers in the U.S. alone.

The EU2200i inverter generator we reviewed on DIYRated carries a CO-MINDER carbon monoxide detection system that automatically shuts the engine down if CO levels build up in an enclosed space, and Honda backs its inverter generators with pure sine wave output safe for laptops and other sensitive electronics. Consumer Reports maintains an independent test listing for the EU2200i, and Popular Mechanics has covered the model directly, including a firsthand account of running one through a multi-day outage after Hurricane Florence. That same engineering line carries into Honda's heavier equipment: the commercial-grade GX engine platform we saw in the HSS928 track-drive snow blower is the same GX series Honda has sold through its dealer network for industrial and rental use.

Why we recognized Honda

The DIYRated Top Brand recognition isn't paid for and can't be applied for. We award it to the brands whose products consistently stand out in our hands-on category reviews. Honda earned it on the strength of the products below, evaluated the same way every product on this site is: bought, put to work on real jobs, and judged on merit.

Honda products we rated highly

Honda EU2200iTAN Inverter Generator
Top Pick 2026

Honda EU2200iTAN Inverter Generator

A top pick in our portable generator testing for anyone who wants near-silent backup power: it ran between 48 and 57 dBA in our noise checks, quieter than normal conversation, and sipped fuel at roughly 0.12 gallons per hour at a quarter load. A CO-MINDER carbon monoxide detector shuts the engine down automatically if CO builds up, and it carries a 4.7-star average across more than 3,200 reviews.

Honda HSS928AATD 28-Inch Two-Stage Track Drive Gas Snow Blower
Top Pick 2026

Honda HSS928AATD 28-Inch Two-Stage Track Drive Gas Snow Blower

A top pick for heavy-snow regions in our testing: a commercial-grade Honda GX270 engine with an automotive-style electric key start fired reliably in deep cold, and rubber tracks held traction on ice and inclines where wheeled machines spun out. Hydrostatic drive gave stepless speed control, and it cleared up to 1,900 pounds of snow per minute with a 52-foot throw in our review.
