About Klein Tools
Klein Tools was founded in 1857 in Chicago by German immigrant Mathias Klein, who started as a forge shop making side-cutting pliers for telegraph linemen. The company remains family-owned more than 165 years later and is now headquartered in Lincolnshire, Illinois, with manufacturing facilities including its Mansfield, Texas plant. Klein has stayed committed to American manufacturing even as many competitors moved production overseas, and its catalog has grown from that original pair of pliers into pliers, screwdrivers, wire strippers and crimpers, insulated electrical tools, cable and bolt cutters, test and measurement instruments, and tool storage built for electricians and other tradespeople.
In our own testing on DIYRated, Klein's fixed-blade screwdrivers stand out for full-tang shafts that transmit torque without flexing, and its insulated 1000V drivers are tested to ASTM F1505, the standard that actually matters for anyone working near a live panel. Klein's warranty coverage varies by product line, most specialty hand tools are covered for the normal life of the tool, and the brand's Made in the USA positioning is a genuine manufacturing claim, not just marketing copy, since Klein continues to build tools domestically while most of the hand-tool industry has shifted production abroad.

Why we recognized Klein Tools
The DIYRated Top Brand recognition isn't paid for and can't be applied for. We award it to the brands whose products consistently stand out in our hands-on category reviews. Klein Tools earned it on the strength of the products below, evaluated the same way every product on this site is: bought, put to work on real jobs, and judged on merit.
Klein Tools products we rated highly
Klein Tools 85148 Screwdriver Set, 8-Piece with Magnetizer (9 pieces total)
Made in the USA fixed-blade construction with full-tang shafts that transmit torque without flex, so leaning on a stuck screw doesn't twist the shaft. The included Klein Rare-Earth Magnetizer/Demagnetizer works on long Phillips and slotted shafts, and Cushion-Grip handles with a three-zone diameter design fit a wide range of hand sizes. The set covers the working sizes a residential contractor actually uses, in our testing that combination made it the kit we kept reaching for.
