About Wera
Wera Werk Hermann Werner GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 1936 in Wuppertal, Germany, by Hermann Werner. The company's name is a contraction of its founders' surnames, Werner and Amtenbrink (Heinz Amtenbrink led the postwar rebuild as the Werner family's son-in-law), and has been the registered trademark since 1951. In 1968, Wera developed its Kraftform ergonomic screwdriver handle in partnership with the Fraunhofer Institute, an innovation that is still central to the company's tool design today. Wera moved the majority of its manufacturing to Bystřice, Czech Republic in the mid-1990s as part of its international expansion, and has been under the ownership of Bitburger Holdings since 2016.
Wera's product range centers on hand-driven tools built around ergonomic handle engineering: precision and general-purpose screwdrivers, the Zyklop ratchet and socket system, Joker self-adjusting combination wrenches, Bit-Check bit assortments, and Click-Torque torque wrenches. The company has been collecting design recognition since 2009, including multiple iF Design Awards and the Red Dot Design Award's "Best of the Best" honor in 2014 for overall product design excellence. That design focus shows up directly in the Kraftform line's laser-tip Phillips pattern and rotating-cap handle, which our own testing on the Kraftform Micro-Set/12 found meaningfully reduces cam-out on precision fasteners compared to standard ground tips.

Why we recognized Wera
The DIYRated Top Brand recognition isn't paid for and can't be applied for. We award it to the brands whose products consistently stand out in our hands-on category reviews. Wera earned it on the strength of the products below, evaluated the same way every product on this site is: bought, put to work on real jobs, and judged on merit.

Wera Kraftform Micro-Set/12 ESD Precision Screwdriver Set, 12-Piece
German-made with Wera's hardened laser-tip pattern that bites into Phillips screw heads and noticeably reduces cam-out compared to standard ground tips in our testing. The Kraftform handle rotates independently of the shaft cap for fast precision driving, the handles are ESD-safe for electronics work, and the set covers JIS cross-recess sizes alongside Phillips, a coverage gap most American-brand precision sets leave open. It holds a 4.9 rating across 6,701 reviews.
