About Mysa

Mysa was co-founded in 2016 by brothers Josh and Zach Green in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, and has grown from a six-person startup into the market leader for smart electric-heat management. The company built its name solving a problem the big thermostat brands largely ignore: line-voltage electric baseboard, fan-forced convectors, and radiant ceiling heat, none of which a standard low-voltage ecobee or Nest can control. Mysa's lineup has since expanded to cover central HVAC, ductless mini-splits, and electric in-floor heating, but the baseboard line remains its defining product.

Mysa has picked up recognition from Wirecutter, which names it among its best smart thermostats, alongside coverage from NBC News, The Spruce, Better Homes & Gardens, and a positive hands-on review from TechHive. The company also became the first carbon-neutral business in Newfoundland and Labrador. In our own testing of Mysa's baseboard units, the combination of full voice-assistant support (Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple HomeKit, and Siri) with a 5-year warranty stood out as unusually strong backing for a line-voltage install.

Why we recognized Mysa

The DIYRated Top Brand recognition isn't paid for and can't be applied for. We award it to the brands whose products independently earn top-pick status in our hands-on category reviews. Mysa earned it because its products came out on top in 2 separate guides — evaluated the same way every product on this site is: bought, put to work on real jobs, and judged on merit.

Mysa products we feature

Mysa Smart Thermostat LITE for Electric Baseboard
runner-up in 8 Best Smart Thermostats of 2026: A Contractor's Honest Picks

Mysa Smart Thermostat LITE for Electric Baseboard

The only mainstream smart thermostat designed for line-voltage 120V/240V electric baseboard, fan-forced, and convection heaters — every other thermostat in our roundup simply cannot switch that circuit. It matches full Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple HomeKit, and Siri support with a 5-year warranty, the longest in the category, and app-based geofencing and 7-day schedules that meaningfully cut runtime on what is typically a home's most expensive heat source per BTU.

What earned Mysa the recognition

  • The only brand in our smart-thermostat roundup that makes a genuine line-voltage product for electric baseboard, fan-forced, and convection heat — a category every low-voltage competitor simply cannot serve.
  • 5-year manufacturer warranty on its baseboard thermostats, the longest of any brand we reviewed in the category.
  • Full voice-assistant coverage across Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple HomeKit, and Siri on every model, matching or beating premium low-voltage competitors twice its size.
  • Independent recognition from Wirecutter, NBC News, The Spruce, and Better Homes & Gardens, plus a positive hands-on review from TechHive.
  • First carbon-neutral company in Newfoundland and Labrador, and has grown into the market leader for smart electric-heat management since its 2016 founding.
