About Smad
Smad is a Chinese appliance manufacturer, operating as Qingdao Smad Electric Appliances Co., Ltd. from Qingdao, China. The company traces its roots to 2004, when it began as a refrigerator maker inside Qingdao's industrial park before building out its own export brand and expanding into a broader electric-appliance lineup sold across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific — including laundry appliances, dishwashers, microwaves and ovens, wine coolers, ice makers, and kegerators, alongside OEM/ODM manufacturing for other brands.
Its direct-to-consumer storefront, smadappliances.com, centers on gas propane and 12V absorption refrigeration for RV, off-grid, and outdoor use, backed by a 1-year warranty, a 30-day return window, and free shipping. In our testing of the brand's ventless washer-dryer combo, it posted the highest customer rating of any unit in the roundup — a strong result for a brand with a comparatively small US footprint next to legacy appliance names.

Why we recognized Smad
The DIYRated Top Brand recognition isn't paid for and can't be applied for. We award it to the brands whose products consistently stand out in our hands-on category reviews. Smad earned it on the strength of the products below, evaluated the same way every product on this site is: bought, put to work on real jobs, and judged on merit.
