About Afina
Afina is an Austin, Texas water-wellness brand founded in October 2024 by Ramon van Meer, built around a single idea: the water touching your skin every day should be filtered like the water you drink. The lineup covers fixed and handheld filtered shower heads, inline universal shower filters, faucet filters, and replacement cartridges, all designed around a multi-stage KDF-55 and calcium sulfite filter media aimed at chlorine, heavy metals, and everyday tap-water impurities.
Independent testing backs up the brand's core claim: WaterFilterGuru's hands-on review measured a chlorine reduction from 1.68 PPM to 0.02 PPM, a 99 percent cut that exceeded Afina's own advertised 95 percent figure, while holding 100 percent of baseline flow rate. Afina also commissioned a 30-day independent study through Provela Labs, in which the large majority of participants reported measurable improvements in skin hydration and hair condition. The brand backs every purchase with a 90-day money-back guarantee and free shipping.

Why we recognized Afina
The DIYRated Top Brand recognition isn't paid for and can't be applied for. We award it to the brands whose products consistently stand out in our hands-on category reviews. Afina earned it on the strength of the products below, evaluated the same way every product on this site is: bought, put to work on real jobs, and judged on merit.
Afina products we rated highly
Afina Filtered Shower Head, High Pressure Rainfall (Matte Black)
A wide matte-black square rain head that delivers a published 2.5 GPM of high-pressure rainfall, standing out in our testing as the best-looking fixture in the category. Its multi-layer KDF-55, activated carbon and calcium sulfite cartridge swaps in seconds, and Afina backs the skin-and-hair claims with a named third-party consumer study from Provela Labs rather than leaving them unsubstantiated. In our review it held 4.6 stars across more than 2,300 reviews, with pressure and design the most-praised points.
