About Zoeller
Zoeller Company traces back to 1939, when August "Pop" Zoeller began designing and building pedestal sump pumps in the basement of his own home. The business moved to its present Louisville, Kentucky headquarters in 1949 and has stayed family-owned ever since, now run by a fourth generation of the Zoeller family. That basement-shop origin is part of why the company still centers its lineup on the same problem it started with: getting groundwater out of a home before it becomes damage.
The catalog has grown well past that first pedestal pump into sump pumps, sewage and grinder pumps ranging from 1/2 HP up to 15 HP, effluent lift stations, and a dedicated line of battery backup systems for when the power goes out mid-storm. Our own testing bears out the reputation: the cast-iron M53 Mighty-Mate is the sump pump we found licensed contractors installing in their own homes, backed by a three-year warranty and a motor housing built to shed heat and outlast lighter thermoplastic competitors.

Why we recognized Zoeller
The DIYRated Top Brand recognition isn't paid for and can't be applied for. We award it to the brands whose products independently earn top-pick status in our hands-on category reviews. Zoeller earned it because its products came out on top in 1 DIYRated guide — evaluated the same way every product on this site is: bought, put to work on real jobs, and judged on merit.
Zoeller products we feature
Zoeller M53 Mighty-Mate Submersible Sump Pump (1/3 HP)
The pump we found contractors installing in their own homes, with a cast-iron motor housing that runs quieter and sheds heat far better than the thermoplastic competition, and a simple mechanical float that has little to go wrong. It's our default recommendation for a standard basement.
