About RYOBI
RYOBI traces back to 1943 in Japan, where it started as a die-casting company before moving into power tools in 1968. Techtronic Industries (TTI), a Hong Kong-based manufacturer, took over RYOBI's North American power tool business in 2000 and now runs the brand's U.S. power equipment operations out of Anderson, South Carolina. In 1996 RYOBI launched the 18V ONE+ cordless battery platform, and it has stayed on the same battery design ever since: the pack from a drill bought decades ago still runs a current ONE+ tool, a lineup that has grown past 280 compatible products spanning drills, saws, outdoor equipment, and shop tools.
That single-battery breadth is exactly what stood out in our own testing: in the roundups where we reviewed RYOBI tools, our reviewers repeatedly pointed to the ONE+ ecosystem as the reason one RYOBI purchase tends to turn into several, since the same pack that runs a drill also runs a trimmer, a shop light, or an inflator. RYOBI has been The Home Depot's exclusive power tool brand partner in the U.S. since 2000, and the tools we tested for DIYRated backed up the value proposition that partnership is built on: strong torque-per-pound and hammer-rate figures, brushless motors even at entry price points, and review averages that held up against tools costing considerably more.

Why we recognized RYOBI
The DIYRated Top Brand recognition isn't paid for and can't be applied for. We award it to the brands whose products consistently stand out in our hands-on category reviews. RYOBI earned it on the strength of the products below, evaluated the same way every product on this site is: bought, put to work on real jobs, and judged on merit.
RYOBI products we rated highly
RYOBI ONE+ HP 18V Brushless Cordless 1/2 in. Hammer Drill/Driver - PBLHM101B - Tool Only
The PBLHM101B posted the highest hammer rate in our hammer-drill roundup at 31,000 BPM, and paired that with 750 in-lb of torque from a 3.0 lb body, the best torque-per-pound figure among the 18V tools we tested. Its 24-position clutch gave the finest torque control of any tool in the lineup, and it carried a 4.6-star average across 454 reviews. The ONE+ platform behind it spans more than 150 tools on one battery family.

RYOBI ONE+ HP 18V Brushless Cordless 1/4 in. Impact Driver, Tool Only
The highest-rated RYOBI impact driver we found on Amazon, at 4.8 stars across 645 verified reviews. Its HP Brushless motor is a genuine step up from the brushed PCL235B it replaced, extending runtime and motor life, and at 1.9 lbs it was the lightest driver in our roundup, useful for overhead and one-handed work. It runs on the same battery as the 175-plus tools on the ONE+ platform.

RYOBI 18V PCL702 Wet/Dry Hand Vacuum Kit
The only wet/dry handheld in our roundup that ships complete, battery and charger included, so it works out of the box with zero platform buy-in. A dedicated squeegee attachment cleaned up liquid spills, and at 70 dB it ran noticeably quieter than the corded competition we tested it against. The included battery is a standard ONE+ pack, so it doubles as an entry point into the wider RYOBI lineup.
